Warren has been actively involved with the Shed since its inception having been involved with Coffee & Chat, Discussion Group and the Book Club. He has been a Committee Member and also served as Grants Officer. Where he has significantly contributed to the Shed is that over the last 2 years particularly he has provided musical entertainment at our Christmas breakups. He is a talented guitarist and singer specialising in many genres of music particularly folk and ballads

Jess Seeney has amazed Mal, Larry and Peter with how she is on time, on budget and with professionalism has completed the Shed extension. She doesn’t want any additional reward or recognition for what she has done so as token appreciation for what she has done she was deserving of a Certificate of Recognition.

An Australia Day Achievement Award was presented to our current Treasurer Burt Beasley by the Lord Mayor. He has a long history of achievements with Rotary, having joined in 1984. Importantly for the Shed, Burt has played a crucial role in establishing the Indooroopilly Men’s Shed Inc. in 2013. He has served as the shed’s president, secretary, treasurer and also he had been involved in various shed activities.

One of our latest workshop creations was mentioned on the ABC Radio Brisbane Friday 10/012025. The recipient of the Puzzle Library was interviewed about it for over 5 minutes after getting more than 660 likes and 90 positive comments on Facebook.

The Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings on Friday 22/11/2024 went ahead as planned, although one wondered if the public had thought it was cancelled ! Rain most of the day, at times quite heavy. The guys did a great job on Friday, still ended up with a reasonable effort for the day. Probably our wettest Sausage Sizzle ever!

He was also responsible for the installation of CCTV’s as well as the alarm system. For about 5 years he was the workshop manager and not only oversaw the completion of the planter boxes, street libraries, possum boxes and bee hotels.

On Friday 20/09/2024 morning the Shed participated in a community event organised by Cr Penny Wolff at the Indooroopilly Central Carpark. The Shed’s assistance to run a sausage sizzle, because we are the experts at it! Shed participants were: Peter Murrell, Pratul Chatterjee, Craig Schlenker, Mal Halket, John and Bridget Marland and Larry Whitehead.

July 2024s Guest Speaker was John Hart is a Director of AECOM, an international engineering consultancy. He heads up the Bridge Division that is responsible for the design, construction & repair of bridges. He spoke about e recent calamitous Baltimore Bridge collapse and also the construction of the second Centenary Bridge which impacts many of the Shed’s members and their families.

July's Guest Speaker for the Member’s Meeting on Wednesday 17 July 2024 was John Hart. As a small token of appreciation, he was presented with a thank you gift by Pieter Scheelings.

The Guest Speaker for June 2024 member’s meeting on Wednesday 19th June was Dr Brian Gabrielli with the title of his talk ‘Patient Heal Thyself’.

June 2024s Guest Speaker Professor Gabrielli heads the Smiling for Smiddy Cell Cycle Group at the Mater Research Institute UQ. As a small token of appreciation, he was presented with a thank you gift of a IMS made bee house.

One of our senior members celebrated his birthday at Coffee and Chat on Tuesday (11/06/2024) - one year for each of the Smarties?

The Bunning's Sausage Sizzle held on Sunday 28/04/2024 was a raging success and netted over $2000 for the Shed. Many thanks to the 3 shifts of volunteers who manned the grill and slung the sangers! Pictured is the “Breakfast Crew” who were up and on site bright and whirly to setup grill and get things cooking before the masses descended in a feeding frenzy.
On Anzac Day (25/04/2024) John McCormick (centre) presented a wreath on behalf of the Shed. Also in attendance representing the Shed (from left to right was): Larry Whitehead (secretary), Les De Krester (previous president), Lloyd Lyndon and Peter Murrell (president).

The workshop built a small set for a Short Movie, “The Confession”. Not surprisingly it is set inside a Confession booth as can be seen below in this snap taken in the studio during filming.

November 2023 guest Speaker was Monique Lowndes of eWaste Connection. She Spoke about how the growing global issue of disposing of electrical waste became the mechanism to provide a life changing and meaningful activity for people with a disability in Brisbane.

Here are some pictures of the first ever bicycle repair workshop, held before construction of the Indooroopilly Men's Shed was complete. We are continuing to repair bicycles in our new facility, and they are provided to refugees who are in great need of this mode of transport.
